Today in parliament, the president of Somaliland gave the yearly constitutional speech. The president spoke about achievements during his term in office, including health, roads, the courts and justice system, education, water, the economy, and elections. He also discussed ways to improve how government institutions are run, and the president also praised civil service commission for the implementation of the reform of the government employees
In his speech, the president also brought up the situation in Lascaanod and claimed that Sool’s residents shared Somaliland’s concerns for safety and the expansion of social services. The president listed the peace achieved during the battle in Lascaanood as one of Somaliland’s major victories. He also mentioned that Punland and terrorism were Somaliland’s opponents.
On the other hand, the president updated the parliament on his travels overseas, including his trip to the United States, as well as his government’s efforts to get Somaliland recognized.
The Supreme Court decided to authorize political associations, the president added, mentioning the impending elections in the nation. As a result, I appointed the members of the Association Registration Committee and the House of Representatives in accordance with the court’s ruling and they were unanimously approved. The country will hold elections, the president announced, and the three winning parties would each contribute a portion of the cost of the presidential election.
The President described the candidacy of the Waddani Party, Abdirahman Irro as illegal and said, “The chairman of the Waddani party (Hirsi) was recently elected, and there is a lot of time for him, but the former chairman of the Waddani (Cirro) is not allowed by law to become a presidential candidate.”
